Mercedes-Benz In-Car Wireless Charging

Mercedes-Benz's new infotainment solution featuring wireless charging and Near Field Communication (NFC) connectivity debuted in the E-Class in 2016. The system allows mobile phones to be charged and connected to the vehicle's exterior aerial with no need for cables or an additional telephone holder. When the "NFC" logo is touched, the system connects the mobile phone to the head unit and the exterior aerials with telephone calls routed via the Bluetooth hands-free system automatically. NFC also enables using your smartphone as the Digital Vehicle Key.

HOW TO USE WIRELESS CHARGING IN YOUR MERCEDES

The charging pad is built into the stowage facility at the front of the centre console. To start charging, simply open the store unit and lay your device face up on the charging mat. The charging icon will appear on the screen when charging is initiated. Always make sure all objects, especially metal or magnetic objects, are removed from the charging pad to ensure an efficient connectivity.

 

iPHONE WIRELESS CHARGING IN YOUR MERCEDES - COMPATIBILITY

The Mercedes-Benz charging solution is compatible with the universal Qi standard. All Qi-enabled smartphones including the iPhone 8 and iPhone X can be charged directly from the charger, however larger phablet size devices like the iPhone 8 Plus, Samsung S8 Plus may not fit in the tray phone holder solution.

Apple iPhone models prior to the iPhone 8 will need a wireless charging accessory like the Aircharge ‘Made for iPhone’ Wireless Charging Case to enable the device to work with Qi chargers. Aircharge is an official partner of the Mercedes-Benz USA and offer a customised version of the Aircharge iPhone case with Mercedes-Benz branding which can be purchased through Mercedes-Benz’s online retail channels and stores.
