Aircharge, leading innovators in wireless charging technology, and ibis Hotels have announced that they will deploy wireless charging solutions across 60 ibis locations throughout the UK
The rollout of Aircharge solutions will be completed by December across the ibis family, which comprises ibis Hotels, ibis Budget and ibis Styles brands. The addition of Aircharge Qi-certified wireless chargers to the public areas of the hotels will enhance customer experience, allowing them to recharge their phones easily and conveniently.
A total of 60 ibis hotels nationwide will be supplied with Aircharge wireless chargers, including 16 in London and over 40 throughout the rest of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
This national deployment of Aircharge wireless chargers will provide invaluable wireless charging facilities compatible with the vast majority of mobile phones, either via in-built Qi wireless charging functions in the phone itself or using the Aircharge “Orb”, a unique bridging technology deployed with each wireless charger.
The inclusion of wireless charging is in keeping with ibis’s goals of providing well-equipped hotels and adding value to guests by integrating the latest emerging technologies. Ryan Sanderson, Commercial Development Manager at Aircharge commented, “The hospitality sector is of huge importance to the wireless charging ecosystem. There is a growing need for facilities that enable us to top up our mobile devices on the go, and hotels are one of the places we often forget to bring a cable, or where perhaps don’t have a converter that allows us to use the AC outlets in that region. Aircharge wireless charging solutions negate the need for either.”
Aircharge wireless charging solutions are compatible with the global wireless charging standard, Qi. The adoption of Qi wireless charging is accelerating rapidly with more than 85 mobile phones now compatible, along with an increasing number of smart watches and other portable electronic devices.
Sanderson added, “It’s great to see this initiative from ibis Hotels as an early adopter, strengthening the wireless charging ecosystem with public space deployment.”
All ibis locations with Aircharge wireless charging will appear on the Aircharge Qi wireless charging locator app, which guides users to their nearest publically available Qi wireless charger. The app is available for download immediately on iOS, Android and Windows platforms.
