Two firsts, one table: iPhone Duo meets the AirMag Fold

Sep 10, 2026

Apple’s September event gave us plenty to talk about. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max arrived with the new A20 Pro chip. But the headline act was the iPhone Duo, Apple’s first foldable iPhone: a 5.4-inch outer display that opens into a 7.6-inch inner screen, a titanium body, and Apple says it’s the thinnest iPhone ever when unfolded. Pre-orders open on 16 October, and it goes on sale on 23 October.

So Apple’s first foldable iPhone meets the first foldable AirMag. And for anyone who puts charging in front of customers, the best part is this: the Duo charges on the AirMag Fold whether it’s folded shut or wide open.

If you put charging in front of customers, though, one detail matters more than the hinge.

The question everyone was asking

In the run-up to launch, rumours suggested Apple might drop MagSafe from the Duo to save space. It didn’t. The Duo keeps its magnetic charging array on the back, beneath the camera, and supports MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging at up to 25W, the same as the iPhone 18 Pro. That takes it from low battery to 50% in around 30 minutes.

What that means for the AirMag with MagSafe and AirMag Fold

Nothing changes, and that’s the point. The iPhone Duo snaps onto the AirMag Fold just like every other iPhone already on your tables, and charges at full speed. When a customer sits down with the newest, most expensive iPhone on the market, your table is ready for it on day one. There’s nothing to update or replace, and no call to make to us.

Open it up, keep it charging

This is where two foldables really do belong together. The Duo’s magnets sit on the back of the camera half, so when a customer unfolds it on the AirMag Fold, it stays on the charger. They get the full 7.6-inch screen, propped up at the table and charging, whether they’re reading the menu, joining a video call, catching up on emails or watching the match. Folded or open, it charges on the AirMag Fold.

Future-proofed by design, not by luck

This isn’t a happy accident. We build the AirMag range around open, industry-wide standards rather than one-off designs, so when Apple changes the shape of the iPhone, the charging still works. Built on MagSafe and Qi2, These are the standards Apple is still building into its newest devices, foldable included.

Buy once, charge every generation

Venues shouldn’t have to re-buy charging hardware every September. The AirMag Fold charges every iPhone from iPhone 12 onwards, and at the full 25W from iPhone 16 onwards. That now runs from the iPhone 16 through the iPhone 18 Pro to Apple’s first foldable.
New phone, same table, same charger. That’s what future-proof looks like.
