Kia first introduced its Qi wireless charging feature on the Kia Optima in 2016 in the form of a charging tray located in the centre console. Since then they have rolled this out as either optional or standard equipment on the Forte, Sportage, Niro, Picanto, Stinger and Sorento ranges. In the 2019 Kia Forte, the optional Qi wireless charging pad is situated on a dedicated shelf in the centre stack.

Utilizing Kia’s Wireless Charging feature is fairly simple. Start with turning the system on using the on/off button with the Qi charging symbol. Once you’ve removed all objects from the tray, place your mobile device face up on the Qi symbol molded into it. You might have to move the phone slightly until the amber light just below the Qi button illuminates, indicating the device is properly positioned and charging.
The charger is compatible with the universal Qi standard. All Qi-enabled smartphones including the iPhone 8 and iPhone X can be charged directly from the charging mat, including larger phablet size devices like the Samsung S8 Plus.
Apple iPhone models prior to the iPhone 8 will need a wireless charging accessory like the Aircharge ‘Made for iPhone’ Wireless Charging Case to enable the device to work with Qi chargers.
